I love our morning walks

I love these morning walks.

My verses today a slice of pie from Matthew 15. The chapter of seeds and sowing and ears and yeast.

I took a detour and found Julie with some really touching words that so lovingly and with such gentleness powed and kapowed into my own life here today:
I Sing Because I Am Free: “Love Lifted Me” http://isingbecauseimfree.wordpress.com/2014/07/23/love-lifted-me/

And – as her words filtered through my life and heart – He put a song on my internal juke-box. Julie’s title triggering a classic slow-snog-end-of-disco-schmooze-number (I was young once!) – His words and her words and this song all now flowing through me:

“Up Where We Belong”: Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes

He drew me further through Chapter 15. And as I meandered with Him where the eagles soar, the mountains high, where … Love Lifts Us Up Where We Belong …

He settled right there. Laid out the blanket. Put down the picnic hamper. Breathed the clean air. Poured a big hearty mug of coffee. And we just sat and enjoyed the moment together:

“He said to them, “Therefore every teacher of the law who has become a disciple in the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old.”” Matthew 15:52

And we caught each others’ eyes. And smiled. Knowingly.

Ahhhhhhh …………!

His Law is not rules. His Law is Love. For Him, from him, for me, for you, from me, from you.

His Law is desire not duty. His Law is option not obligation. His Law is timeless not convenient. His Law has no contradiction. No interpretation. His Law is simple. His Law is Love. Not rules.

Let us all be disciples who live His Law – not ours. His Love – not our convenience. His timelessness – our connection.

I love our morning walks!

  1. “His Law is desire not duty. His Law is option not obligation. His Law is timeless not convenient. His Law has no contradiction. No interpretation. His Law is simple. His Law is Love. Not rules.” Oh thanks for this message Brother Paul. Much blessings to you.

    • Vincent, I have been skirting your relationship posts of late – not sure I want a list of good stuff overlaying my years of learning something so deep and so overwhelming and so deeply beautiful in my own life.

So to see your words here – they touch me deeply. You touch me deeply in stopping by here. 🙂

      Thank you.

  2. Thank you for your sweet words 🙂 And thank you for reminding me of another great “love”‘ song! Don’t you just love it when He puts old songs on our hearts… and sometimes new ones… but His perfect love finds us and He sings over us His soundtrack of love! I have been “lifting” with my husband for about 4 weeks now, and that hymn “Love Lifted Me” has been on repeat in my head. He does, indeed, lift us up in the most wonderful ways 🙂

    • LOL!! I was taken by surprise this morning – pondering your words, with His words on seeds scattered, and then this tune – persistent and in full technicolour – all going on inside me!
Your words caught something in my own life. Your juke-box triggering mine.
And then you gift me and us “His perfect love finds us” – What a gorgeous phrase – All we have to do is be in tune with Him!
      I so love this church!!
      Thank you so much!!
      🙂

  3. “Love lifts us up where we belong.” Got tears in my eyes listening to this again. We do belong there – lifted by love.

Been reading Donald Miller’s “Blue Like Jazz.” In it, he writes that too often we (and the church) think of love as an economic commodity, something with which we barter or withhold. Instead, we need to think of it as some other metaphor – a free gift, or maybe water, something we can “pour out lavishly,” or “a magnet, pulling people from the mire and toward healing. I knew this was the way God loved me.”

I look forward to these morning walks, too.

    • All that counting and transaction! Something we are much more perfect in than simply loving!

Love the visuals – and all of us need our own visual perfect for each. That is why I love this church so much – it embraces and bounces, includes and exudes, allows and kapows!! 🙂

Thank you dear dirt sister! You make my heart sing louder!!

    • Mark, I am a novice with hymns. So googled “In the Garden” – and so glad I did. This is one delight and a real gift – thank you!

I will be playing this all day!! Wow!! Thank you!!

      • I heard it all my life. I know hymns aren’t scripture, but there is good, sound doctrine in them. I think I like that one because of a one-on-one, meandering, reassuring relationship between singer and God.
