Some links are twisted or broken
Some people confuse self-centredness with blame
Some people prefer a blank cheque with their name
Some people live life as they like and say they must
Some people live life as they blame and they cuss
Some people have no need to feel shame for your blame
Some people have no need for their wrongs in your life
Some people have no need to take part in this hate game.
Some people have no need to be the reason you’ve “yet to live”.
You confuse your self-centredness with blame for me
You prefer a blank cheque with your name writ large
You live how you like and whinge that you must
You live as you like as you blame and you cuss.
I have no need to feel shame for your blame
I have no need for your list of my wrongs in your life
I have no need to take part in this life hate game.
I have no need to be the sole reason you’ve “yet to live”.
You see that as shirking all the harm I have done
You see that as you losing – that I have still won
You see lots of things that I do not
Do you need me to lose – so you do not?
Years have gone by and still there is still hope –
Yours that I submit the error of my ways
Mine that you put down this heavy dead weight
I do not need your heavy load as you still do
I live in hope that one day you might too.

I exist in a web of relationships – links to nature, people, God.
I trace out these links, giving thanks for the life that flows through them.
Some links are twisted or broken: I may feel regret, anger, disappointment.
I pray for the gift of acceptance and forgiveness.”
