Waited on and waited for

‘Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?’

A map. A sat-nav / GPS. A guide. A sign. A marker. A memory. A something outside of me for something inside of me.

Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’

Something inside of me for something inside of me. A sense. A word. A seeing. A sound. A rustle. A space. Another.

Knowing.

I watched a person with no sight in their own home. If I had not known they were blind – I would not have known they were sightless.

I watched a dog with no hearing run around. If I had not known they were deaf – I would not have known they had only silence.

Knowing.

Changes us.

“No one comes to the Father except through me.’

I know (now) I have never been lost. I know (now) I was simply being waited on and waited for.

And knowing (now) makes my past okay, my present a gift, and the future safe.

Knowing (now) that.

Now makes it okay to allow others feel safe. Right now. Today. This moment.

Knowing that changes me.

Knowing (now) changes everything.

(John 14:1-6)
