I call you friends

There are days when The Word … WOW … Wow … wow … … !

“‘This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. I do not call you servants any longer, because the servant does not know what the master is doing; but I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father. You did not choose me but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask him in my name. I am giving you these commands so that you may love one another.” John 15:12-17

I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

I don’t call you servants any longer; servants don’t know what the master is doing, but I have told you everything the Father has said to Me. I call you friends.

No longer do I call you avadim, because the eved does not have da’as of what his Adon is doing. But you I have called chaverim, because all things which I heard from HaAv of me, of all these things I gave you da’as.

I’m no longer calling you servants because servants don’t understand what their master is thinking and planning. No, I’ve named you friends because I’ve let you in on everything I’ve heard from the Father.
verse 15

You are not servants.
I call you friends.
Go and bear fruit.
Fruit that will last.

  1. “No, I’ve named you friends because I’ve let you in on everything I’ve heard from the Father.”…. wow indeed!!! He lets us in… if only we let HIM in! Great scripture to ponder 🙂

  2. Yes. And the greatest gift is when a one friend gives his life for another. Double WOW, huh? It still doesn’t completely register way down deep in my gut. Older brother? Yeah, I totally get that. (And I’m certain Papa loves Him best, BTW!) But friend! Whoa! Gotta work on that one.
