That Love needs nothing

There has been a conversation over on Church Set Free.

About beliefs.  About God.  About Love.  About getting stuck in the track we thought was our choice – but is maybe more to do with where we are born.

About God.  And how faith and belief are often accepted as a confused assumption.  One which is then defended against all comers.

And then I go back to the bible.  And hear my Lord and Father speaking clearly.  And know again that ALL of this debate around God and Love … Love and Faith … Faith and Belief … Belief and Dogma … Dogma and dog-eat-dog …

All this confusion is safe so long as we focus on one thing.

Love.  Unconditional love.  Eternal love.  Love that is stronger than death.  Love that empowers.  Love that frees.  Love that enables.  Love that allows.

The church calendar says today is the day to remember Mary:

In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. And he came to her and said, “Greetings, favoured one! The Lord is with you.” But she was much perplexed by his words and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favour with God. And now, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his ancestor David. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.” Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?” The angel said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be holy; he will be called Son of God. And now, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month for her who was said to be barren. For nothing will be impossible with God.” Then Mary said, “Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her. Luke 1:26-38

My God Soft Hand Jesus says today is just another day to remember this:

“Call me what you want.  Name me whatever you wish.  See me in whoever you do.  Touch me however you want.  In love.  In a call you never expected but needed.  In a knock at the door you were hoping for.  In an interruption to your day you thought was an interruption.  In a flash of intuition you call insight.  In a leafy lane, a dusty track, a tarmac highway.  On a bus, a car, a plane or train.  Alone or together.  At work, rest, or play.  Who am I, where am I , what am I?  You will know me.  You will know me when you are in that moment.  Connected to something you will call “something”.  When you become bigger than the scales and height charts tell you.  When You Just Know.”

Now …

When that happens to you – just how do you record the “event” in words that make sense to the whole global community? Or does the whole global community have to subscribe to the labels and framework you insist is the only Knowing?

I have travelled to different countries.

My knowing?  The global community “knows” love without needing any words, any labels, any “framework” of belief.

Love connects.  Love allows.  Just like Mary in her time.  Just like you in yours.  Just like me in mine – my knowing that I call God Soft Hands Jesus.  And “that” love … ?

That Love needs nothing.
