Is this Love? Q2 – what is organic …

All I have is Yours – Sojourn Music (2007)

Creator, giver of all things: All I have is Yours.
Accept my humble offering: All I have is Yours.
When I was chained to greed and pride, tight-fisted, destined just to die, You paid my debt and bought my life – All I have is Yours.

All I have. All I have. All I have is yours.

This offering is a means of grace. All I have is Yours.
You show me this to grow my faith: All I have is Yours.
The more I give, the less I need. I learn that You’ll provide for me. ’twas blind to this but now I see – All I have is Yours.

All I have. All I have. All I have is yours.

Your kingdom come, Your will be done – all I have is Yours.
You’ll finish all that You’ve begun – all I have is Yours.
That You would use the gifts I bring in service of the coming King Is reason now to praise and sing – All I have is Yours.

Everything I have is yours – Billie Holliday (1952)

Everything I have is yours. You are part of me. Everything I have is yours. My destiny
I would gladly give the sun to you if the sun were only mine
I would gladly give the earth to you and the stars that shine
Everything that I possess, I offer you

Let my dream of happiness come through – I’ll be happy just to spent my life
Waiting at your beck and call – everything I have is yours
My life, my all

I would gladly give the sun to you if the sun were only mine
I would gladly give the earth to you and the stars that shine
Everything that I possess, I offer you

    • You – again – prompted a conversation.

Why is “counter” the accepted Christian burden?

Yet of these two songs – writing about love in the Billie Holliday song seems to me as just “is”. Whereas the Sojourn Music seems like a burden (lyrically). The “worship sing” has to tick boxes – has to be about worship.

I wonder if this is why “counter” is counter – but intuitive (in this case) seems to be much more organic.

Precision note 🙂 – Why do we have to “sell God” with “good theology” in our “worship songs”, whereas we just “love” organically in our secular “love songs”?
