Only God gets into my head

It is not what goes in (to the mouth that defiles a person), but what comes out (of the mouth; this defiles a person).”  Matthew 15:11

I am sitting here working away as usual.  And I have this on in the background quite often …

It is the final concert of a tour that started on 25 April 1985 and ended on 26 April 1986 in Sydney, Australia (this televised concert).

I have no idea if any of the lyrics are offensive.  I have no idea if this is appropriate music.   I listen in wonder – time after time – to the creative genius.

Thirty-one years later it causes me to stop working and watch a bit in wonder … to listen (again and again) in wowed awe …  to absorb – again and again – something that connects me timelessly to … “something”.  That connects me to “something” without any agenda.

I want to share my wonder awe and connection just because – for no reason at all.

And because I read about people who listen only to Christian radio stations.  Who listen to sermons.  Who won’t listen to secular pop music like this.  Who self-censor without ever thinking they are.  Who won’t watch certain television programmes – see certain films – listen to certain speakers – read certain writers.  Or at least that is what they say and I have no reason to doubt them

I always wonder why.

If it is boring, irritating, uninteresting – okay.

But usually (I read) it is because “I don’t do that” … “I won’t do that” … “I shouldn’t do that” is the reason.

Which is saying: “Only God gets into my head – God and no one else!”

– – – – – – – – –

I wonder if that is what God thinks.

“There never was – or is – much room for me in that mindset.”

Thanks God.

🙂
