To love God with an everlasting hate

Do we hate ourselves? The reality is that some of us do and so the love with which we love our neighbour is with a hatred that matches the hatred we have for ourselves.

Then loving our God with all our heart, and with all our soul, and with our entire mind, and with all our strength is to love God with an everlasting hate.

From without such hatred how does love flow?

How does it slip in-between the portals of the eyes?

Within what craft does it travel the orbit of the mind?

Does it creep down the canals of our ears, whispering not of love for fear of hate?

Or does it usurp us like the Horse in Troy?

What bauble might mask this love from hate, a bitter pill; our favourite ice cream?

Or might a fly surprise our open mouth and fly love in?

Within what acid does love strain and burn, digest and turn our hatred into love?

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy might, for to love does take might, the might to let love burn with an enduring light to enlighten the darkness of the Hate, to frighten hate away for hate prefers the darkness for hate is fear.
