“Like in other subcultures, arguments in the vegan world are often fractious and – for those outside the subculture – often tediously detailed.  Vegans argue back and forth about questions like whether it’s OK to date non-vegans, or keep pets, and a host of other issues.”

Subcultures: “a cultural group within a larger culture, often having beliefs or interests at variance with those of the larger culture.”

Song For Guy (Life isn’t everything) – Elton John

.

.

“I wrote the song one Sunday when I was feeling very depressed” explained Elton. “While I was writing the music I couldn’t stop thinking about death.  It was as though someone else was guiding my hand”.

Composed and recorded the same day, he couldn’t think about a title.  But the next day, came the news that 17 years-old Rocket Record messenger named Guy Burchett had been killed on his motorcycle: the instrumental song was dedicated to him.

At the end of the song Elton mumbles “Life isn’t everything”, which he sings over and over …

Life Isn’t everything Isn’t everything Isn’t everything
Life Isn’t everything Isn’t everything Isn’t everything
Life Isn’t everything Isn’t everything Isn’t everything

It was as though someone else was guiding my hand

was

  1. Rather poignant , and at the same time life isn’t everything, and I didn’t know that not eating meat and meat products was such a cut throat world. Is being of a different denomination or faith to be likened to this. Are we cut throats when relating to others who eat other christian diets? Perhaps!
