This old bible malarkey …

Why is it we focus so much energy on the stuff we cannot figure out and so little on the stuff we can?

Who is God … does God actually exist … I can’t prove God to you other than through my belief – which is different to yours – and different to what mine was (and probably will be in the future) …  But God is good – how do I know?  Because the bible says so – but prove the bible – Ahh but that isn’t faith … So what is faith?  Knowing God is good without being able to prove it to you (or me) …

Now all the tax-collectors and sinners were coming near to listen to him. And the Pharisees and the scribes were grumbling and saying, ‘This fellow welcomes sinners and eats with them.’  So he told them this parable: ‘Which one of you, having a hundred sheep and losing one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that is lost until he finds it? When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders and rejoices. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbours, saying to them, “Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.” Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who need no repentance. ‘Or what woman having ten silver coins, if she loses one of them, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbours, saying, “Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.” Just so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.’ Luke 15:1-10

More and more this works for me …

Now all the outcats and incats were having a gander at this Jesus cat. But the incats weren’t happy. “We don’t mix with outcats.” So he looked ALL those cats in the eye and said: “You lose that certain something – that really important certain something – and after looking high and low and going crazy-mad – you find it. Now tell me if I’m wrong here … but ain’t you so made-up you party the rest of the week – ain’t you so made-up you want EVERYONE to party the rest of the week? Or that sweet old lady losing that cheap-tat-ring only she cares about … watch her go crazy-mad cleaning EVERWHERE until she finds it. And then when she finds it she STILL looks crazy-mad-happy the rest of the week … THAT is the shit I am talking about here. There ain’t no “incats” or “outcats” … Those expensive threads ain’t you … That swanky-smartphone ain’t you … They’re your unwanted hair-balls and that most unappealing “bleuch-bleuch” sound … That ain’t the IMPORTANT STUFF.  And you know I ain’t jiving you here: cool-cats are WAYYYYYY beyond all this “incat-outcat stuff”. So be a cool-cat too because that’s when the REAL party begins!”
