Life without the cross

I have seen many different eating habits in my lifetime. The pickers. The move-it-arounders. The woof-it-downers. The plate cleaners. The leave a little bit every-timers. And then there are variants. The collectors. The samplers. The smotherers. The purists. The food-snobs. The food-hogs. The plate fillers and the plate protesters.

I have seen my fellow table companions and their infinite table habits and preferences.

“Jesus is alive with us in many situations, between Paul and Alfie, Paul and Mrs Paul, to all of you who are reading this; with my wife who cannot make up her mind whether she is a Theist or a Christian but who loves the human Christ.” Good Tuesday, Andrew Blair

I have seen my fellow table companions and their infinite table habits and preferences. Yet all would call themselves “Eaters”.

I have seen many beliefs in my travelling companions.  The stalwarts.  The intransigents.  The passionate.  The lukewarm.  The scatterbrains.  The laser focused.  And then the variants.  The I don’t knowers.  The I don’t carers.  The leave me aloners.  Unless those “beliefs” impact on the “I have no opinioners”.

.

.

And yet we continue to require “believers” to consume the whole menu, the whole wine cellar … to eat only in that restaurant and work only in that kitchen … to invite others in to only that chain of restaurants and work (for nothing) in that global institution.  We homogenise.  We compromise.  We gather together.  We require compliance wrapped as diversity.

.

.

And we continue to require “non-believers” to reject the whole menu, the whole wine cellar … to dismiss the frigidity-passion of believing for the passion-frigidity of non-believing.  We either always eat in that restaurant chain, or we stand outside that restaurant chain and jeer.

Madness!

“ … cannot make up her mind whether she is a Theist or a Christian but who loves the human Christ.”

Sanity!

I have never met Mrs Andrew.  I probably never will.  I have never met Mr Andrew.  I probably never will.

But both have all the room they desire in this blog-home.  Their own key.  Their own freedom to come and go.  This blog-home has few rules.  Few musts and must nots.  Simply that love lives with all who live here.  That love welcomes “cannot make up her minders” far more than those who must consume the entire menu (or none at all).

.

.

I read a news articles that we are (as a species) “blend”-ers … “what if”-ers … “seek”-ers of why and how and what-if.

What if … 1 + 1 = 3 … yellow + blue = orange … this + that = something new … ?

We are the curious.  The dabblers.  The laser focused.  We are not “believers” or “non-believers”.  That is madness.  We are the curious.  The non-curious (unless … ).  We are the blenders.  We are the seekers.  We are a species who has found love and refuses to let love go.  Yet even that we argue over.

Madness!

Love is not the “whole menu” or “no menu”.  Love is not a belief or a non-belief.  Love is not the Law or outside the law.  Love is a gateway.  Love is being.  Love changes like a tasting menu changes.  Love is not for me “because I believe” and not for you “because you don’t”.

Madness!

“My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?” John 14:2

“This blog-home has few rules … Simply that love lives with all who live here.”

“… but who loves the human Christ.”

Sanity!
