Spiritual Tea-Leaves: this war of fear

.

.

I wonder whose purpose it serves to forecast the Second Coming.  Whose salvation it wins.  Whose eternal life.  For just as with tea-leaves, the spiritual reading of spiritual “tea-leaves ” and these “Second Coming Signs” seem always to be with us..

I wonder whose purpose it serves … this War of Fear.

For Jesus, when he walked and talked, could have done that across the whole planet all at once.  Could have been in all places everywhere at the same moment.  Could have been within each one then and ever since.   But, according to the Gospels, he didn’t.  He walked and talked with those in his immediate vicinity.  A small fraction of the global population even then.  He walked and talked, primarily, with those ALREADY Chosen.  Those whose faith was of a different culture are held up as exceptions.

So I wonder whose purpose it serves for this repeated swishing of the Second-Coming-tea-leaves.  And why now?

.

.

Trump and the USA … Trump and Iran … Trump and The Wall … Trump and trade wars …  The common theme in those tea-leaves is Trump.  A politician.  A man.  A flawed human being.  One whose divisive popularity is no different to leaders the world over.  Politicians exploiting our “popular disenfranchisement” (with politics and politicians) … with “the system” … “the swamp” … the nose-in-trough of personal enrichment (in the name of public service).

Trump may not be to everyone’s liking.  But as the real-life biblical (pre-Second Coming) Evil One … ?

Why did no one think that of the “the system” (Trump is attempting to dismantle), or “the swamp” (he is trying to drain), or “the game and players“ he is undermining (140 characters at a time) … ?

Why was the acceptance-involvement of “Church” with all of “that“ not part of the tea-leaf swilling?  Why is Trump still lauded by much of the “Church” if he is a forerunner of The End Times?

And in whose interests is it to be a vocal “I told you so”?  What is to be gained … a few more bums on seats … a few more coins in the collecting plate …  a few more mega-churches … ?

I wonder of the “End Times” are a self-fulfilling prophecy.  Much like global corporations can be brought down by rumours of going bust (and then go bust because no one buys from them anymore).  Perhaps too this fascination with predicting the unpredictable.  This fascination with a new breed of prophets.  Ones who undermine this beautiful world – this Garden – we inhabit.

.

.

A Garden where a simple ray of sunshine on my back is a sensuous pleasure.   This Garden where the sound of birds in the morning makes it a great day even before getting out of bed.  This Garden stuffed full of people who are good.  Who are good for no other reason than they are good.  Who are bad (to those who they feel “oppress them”).  Who are rude (to those who they think are “not as important”).  Who reflect the players, the swamp, and the system – this “me me me” – we so despise in our politicians.

.

.

I think this world just needs to be allowed to love.  To be told it is okay to love.  Not the sex-lust-bodily-fluids love.  That is sex and procreation – important, but for other reasons.

I mean love we call altruism, love we call kindness, love we call selflessness, love we know every time we meet it and it meets us.  Meets us where we are unexpectedly.  Disarms us unexpectedly.  Draws us in unexpectedly.

That kind of love.

.

.

Love talked of in the bible (but best lived in this wonderful Garden).  Love preached of in church (to those already “Chosen”).  Love preached and taught (but as a “commandment”).  Love mixed up with this taught fear of sin.  Love taught as “impossible for us mere – sinning – humans” in this life.

While the “unchosen” think the opposite.

.

.

Love taught as a tick-list.  As work and burden and sacrifice and service.  All those “external attributes” we can measure and judge (and switch-on and switch-off).   Love which is NOT of The End Times or the Second Coming.

.

.

And taught as the most divisive thing ever – as the final payback for all those who would not listen – which is the biggest-ever “I told you so!”

Love is not any of that.  Love is not a commandment.  Love is not an attribute to be switched-on( and off).  Love is.

“Agape” or “gob shut” – love is love.

Nothing else needed.

I wonder why the fixation with tea-leaf swilling of the spiritual kind.  Whose purpose does it serve?
