2.A harvest festival – The holiday celebrates the farmer’s yearly harvest, which takes place in the fall. Sukkot also commemorates the biblical story of the Jews’ escape from Egypt. They wandered for 40 years through the desert, living in temporary shelters.

Just a smattering of texts here;the week of Sukkot during which Jews dwell in sukkah, a visible sign of God’s disposition, is a time when the divine embraces the mundane. Yet it signifies that life outside of Sukkah can become a divine embrace.

Indeed I hypothesise that since Jesus was the first and and final dweller in a Tabernacle, therefore he is the Divine Embrace, he came and lived among them and they knew him not. God incarnate was not to be recognised by a people struggling with obeying the One they knew as ‘the Name’. The one whose Name was above every Name – confused yet.

Sorting God out is something Christians have struggled to do since he walked the earth (one becoming two for simplicity’s sake)with his disciples, prior to the incarnation God was pretty simple there was God, the generic term for deity, which for the Jews slowly became the One and the Spirit the Agent in the world.

God had various titles and attributes over the centuries until the People recognised the all in the One. God revealed the Personal Name to Moses, “Ehyeh asher ehyeh (I will be what I will be), yet did not wish the Hebrews to say it, hence the explanation from Rashi

“I will be who I will be:(אהיה אשר אהיה:) I will be with them in this trouble that I will be with them in bondage” Tell them Ehyeh (I will be, אני אהיה) has sent you. As David elucidates ( “O Lord, Your name is forever; O Lord, the mention of Your name is for every generation” (Ps. 135:14). — [from Pes. 50a]) this is to mean LORD. The Tetragrammaton,(YHWH) short for Yahweh, is written without the vav , the W, meaning the LORD’s Name is to be hidden, secret, unspoken.

This may seem complicated to us or even unnecessary yet it reveals to us the LORD who is mystery and whose name we must not speak aloud because it is ineffable and to call someone by their full name is as though to ‘Own’ them. The LORD who is indivisible whose became incarnate as Yahshua, Yahweh (Yah) is salvation (Shua) – The LORD our Salvation, the one and only indivisible God.

So yes, Yahshua is the Divine Embrace who hugs us when we draw aside to remember our History, our own Stages of emergence from the wilderness of Egypt to the Promise of lIfe everlasting because Yahshua embraced a Tree and the LORD died that we might live.
