Don’t give up on you – I am enough

I am beaten I can’t look at you I am beaten I must look down. Looking in your eyes is too hard. You will see me and I can’t have that.  I am hanging on by a thread – if you see inside I may lose my grip – if I see your soul – if we make that connection – I will lose it all – I need to look down for both of us.

don’t give up
‘cos you have friends
don’t give up
you’re not beaten yet
don’t give up
I know you can make it good

It’s just I don’t know how beaten I am yet. Is this a falling down or a staying down – I don’t want to get back up – don’t know if I can. Not yet. Maybe not ever. I need to look down right now. I need to bleed. I need to feel the pain. I need to not be healed by you. Not right now.

don’t give up
you still have us
don’t give up
we don’t need much of anything
don’t give up
’cause somewhere there’s a place
where we belong

I know I have friends, I know I have you. I know all that – but it isn’t enough – it’s never been enough – I need me to be winning – need to be seen by the world – having a place – a purpose – a value in this place we all live and work and die. And the world has told me loud and clear again – I have no value no place – I am not needed anymore.

rest your head
you worry too much
it’s going to be alright
when times get rough
you can fall back on us
don’t give up
please don’t give up

Your being here helps. Your listening helps. Your holding me helps. But I don’t know if it’s enough. I don’t know if you are enough. I don’t know if we are enough. I need me to have a value in this world. I need me to seen and heard and accepted in this world we both live in. I need to know that. I need to hear that. I need to see that.  And I can’t!

moved on to another town
tried hard to settle down
for every job, so many men
so many men no-one needs

So many me’s no one needs anymore. So many of us just like me not valued anymore. So many me’s on the scrap-heap. It’s not right it’s not fair it’s not …

you still have us
don’t give up now
we’re proud of who you are
don’t give up
you know it’s never been easy
don’t give up
’cause I believe there’s a place
there’s a place where we belong

Am I ready… ?  rest your head

Ready to glance into your eyes …  we’re proud of who you are

To touch your soul with mine.  you still have us

There – and again …  don’t give up

You see me I see you. You mean it you are proud you believe in me in us in tomorrow.  there’s a place where we belong

And I see you I hear you I feel you I smell you I feel your heart beat I smell your breath sweet I beat as your heart beats I am looking up and looking out and feeling hope and gaining strength and standing up and looking up and looking you in the eyes and the pain is fading the bleeding is stopping the sun is shining the love is growing and the living is mine and yours.  you’re not beaten yet don’t give up

Don’t give up on me ever – I love you so much.

I cannot change you and I cannot make you do what you do not want to do. I will not instruct you and I will not enslave you. I accept you I am proud of you I will never give up on you or us. I am there every step and every breath of every second of your life and living. I will wander where you wander, I will sit where you sit, I will bleed as you bleed – I will laugh as you dance – dance as you laugh – leap with you as we climb mountains – hesitate with you as we cross chasms.

And I will change as you change. I am what you want and need, desire and create, love and hate. I am Love and love is big enough for you – for all – for all this and more – much much more – enough and more for you – for all who walk in this place.  I am enough I am Love

Don’t give up on you because I never have – I never can.
