When God began to create the world it was a void. Nothing except the Earth floating in the darkness.

God said ” Let there be light,and there was light,God saw the Light,God said it was good. The evening and the morning were the first day.

Was it the Big bang ? Or do we really need to marry God to Science? It is an allegory, a parable. That God so Loved!

Before the preternatural light God had already given up his eternally begotten child as ransom for the sin’s of the uncreated.   For He loved Israel and they loved Him, yet they would spurn the love of their Saviour.

And Israel sang the Song of Songs to God,the greatest song ever written.  A book of Tanach authored by Solomon, depicting the love between G-d and the Jewish people, employing the metaphor of the love between husband and wife. In many communities it is read on the holiday of Passover.

Shir Hashirim – Song of Songs -has been mistaken for a rather racy love story. It is not , for Solomon is a type of Hashem who loved Israel with an everlasting love.  It is so full of symbolism as to require us to familiarise ourselves with the Exodus to grasp the commentary.  It speaks of love and desire and the darkness of Israel’s sin.

2:4 He brought me to the banquet hall, and his attraction to me [was symbolic of his] love

Rashi :HE brought me to the banquet hall: The Tent of Meeting, where the details and the explanations of the Torah were given. and his attraction to me [was symbolic of his] love: And his gathering, that he gathered me to him, that was love to me. I still remember his love. וְדִגְלוֹ is attrait in French.

2: 14 My dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the coverture of the steps, show me your appearance, let me hear your voice, for your voice is pleasant and your appearance is comely.’

Rashi :”My dove in the cleft of the rock; ” This is said concerning that time when Pharaoh pursued them and overtook them camping by the sea with no avenue of escape before them because of the sea, and they could not turn because of the wild beasts. What did they resemble at that time? A dove that fled from a hawk and entered the clefts of the rocks, and a snake was hissing at her. Should she enter within, there was the snake. Similarly, from קֵץ (end) קַצְוֵי, and so, (II Sam. 10:4): “and he cut off their garments (מַדְוֵיהֶם).” steps: Heb. מַדְרֵיגָה, échelons, in French, steps. 8:6“Place me like a seal on your heart, like a seal on your arm, for love is as strong as death, zeal is as strong as the grave; its coals are coals of fire of a great flame!

Is our love for God as uncompromising as Hashem’s- the Name above every name,relationship with the God bearers. Those who carried the Light from Polytheism to Monotheism.

In knowing the Triune One, can we accept that love which was given before time… ? The love that I loved You is to me equal to my death, for I was killed for Your sake.

For I have loved you with an everlasting love.
