To believe that God has a son!
So “I believe in Jesus, the only son of God” as yet the un-anointed one.
Jesus Christ was Born not made: he was not the fashioned top rung of the ladder to God. But the first born and only son who is our Lord.
To be Christian means to be of Christ,the only son of God else there can be nothing further to acclaim.
Having children is what humans and most other creatures do. So, then this Fathering is an anthropomorphic concept. As is the belief that Jesus is his child.
In which way, or how is Jesus son of God.
This is the second Articleof faith the Catechumen makes. So how is it so?
We discover in item three the manner by which it is believed Jesus came into the world and how he is son of God.
Before we do so I would like to muse about the Faith required to attest to that statement. Further to that the difference between the Son of God and God the Son.
Again, Gentiles may have had less difficulty since there are many instances in Greek Mythology where gods and humans conceive a child. Some examples:
Zeus had a number of children. Some of his children were Olympic gods such as Ares, Apollo, Artemis, Athena, Aphrodite, Hermes and Dionysus. He also had some children who were half human and were heroes such as Hercules and Perseus. Other famous children include the Muses, the Graces, and Helen of Troy.

Is Jesus, as the son of God half human or half God, one or the other of these is quite understandable, to me, that Jesus is a half breed similar to Helen of Troy.
As ‘God the Son’ Jesus takes on an entirely different status, Jesus becomes integral of God completely Divine ( explained by churchees) and acknowledged as that person of God that is Son. Or is he?
Is he one of the first two members of a Tritheism or a Binitarianism – a God called Father and another God called Son, the former fathering the later – but who was mum?
Which returns us to the belief that Jesus Christ is God’s only begotten son. Or as Peter attests: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Essentially we are still speaking of the anthropomorphic father and son because the gyne or true Anthropos (woman, female, male) enters the equation in the next statement . ( note Anthropos is gender neutral)
Already we are coming to the Territory of the Nicene Creed which thought to settle the Natures of both Father and son in a Monotheistic religion.
2 into 1 doesn’t go, we are left with God and a son, half god and half man…..or the Platonic God and demigod. The Father, remote and the son accessible.
